webcam images of Marswebcam image of Mars

Date: 23 July 2003 Telescope: 10 inch SCT AVI: 1/5 sec at 5 fps for 300 seconds
Time: see below Camera: Logitec Quickcam Pro 4000 Processing: 120 frames stacked
Observatory: Hartbeespoort Magnification: 3x Tele Vue Barlow Software: K3CCDTools and Photoshop

Mars Apparent Diameter: 20.7 " Illuminated Fraction: 0.941 Distance from Earth: 0.4522 ua Central meridian: 320.09 (at 1:53 UT)

From left to right:

The rotation of Mars is apparent (over one hour) - especially when comparing the first and last images.

Mars' limb haze - the ugly bright arc on the right hand side of the limb - is too bright for the second and third images. I must still determine how to best reduce its glare.
